NorthPoint Academy for Culinary Arts

Last Saturday, March 5, 2011, I was invited to the blessing and inauguration of NorthPoint Academy for Culinary Arts, a new culinary school located just a few minutes outside of Angeles City.

Located along McArthur Highway, going to San Fernando, NorthPoint Academy is a welcome addition to the growing numbers of culinary schools in Pampanga, especially nowadays where more and more Kapampangans are taking interest in culinary arts. Not surprising really because Kapampangans are known for their delicious foods.

NorthPoint is owned and managed byJudy Uson, a well-known cake artist from Manila who relocated here to share her knowledge and expertise to all cooking enthusiasts from Pampanga and nearby provinces. Judy and her creations have been featured in national dailies and magazines, particularly in bridal and food magazines. She has also appeared in many television talk shows, lifestyle and news feature programs.

Judy Uson and her roster of highly qualified and experienced chef instructors will initially be offering short-term lifestyle classes and TESDA-registered Certificate Program. For its summer offerings, NorthPoint opens its doors to individuals who want to make better meals at home or are starting out a small food business.

Equipped with high-class facilities, NorthPoint holds classes in a specious demo kitchen and a modern environment designed to encourage, motivate, and bring out the best for the chefs in the making. The school supports the hands-on method of culinary training. Each student has their own workstation in a state-of-the-art hot kitchen with access to professional equipment.

A class exclusively handled by Judy Uson will also be offered where she will impart her expertise in making beautiful wedding cakes, life-like sugar flowers and intricate sugar art. Here is an opportunity for cake decorating enthusiasts to learn from the master of sugar artist herself, and discover why she was called The Cake Artist.
