The Museo Ning Angeles has been commissioned by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to host the Central Luzon leg of the International Museum Day Celebration which will be held on May 18, 19 and 20, 2011.
In line with this, Museo ning Angeles called on all artists, gallery owners and museum in Central Luzon to join in the celebration of the Museum and Memory: International Museum Day Celebration by having an open-house exhibit on the said dates.
As of date, the following museums, galleries and centers will be having open-house exhibits on May 18 to 20, 2011: Museo Ning Angeles, JDN Center for Kapampangan Studies, Aquino Museum in Tarlac, Bamban Museum of History, Clark Museum, Museong Kapampangan, SM City Pampanga – Heritage Exhibit, Historic Camalig Restaurant/Edgar Salas, Cenare ala Cucina, Galleria Kalinangan and Eddie Paras.
The list will be updated as new galleries signed up to join in the International Museum Day Celebration.
Also a workshop will be held on May 18 at the JDN Center for Kapampangan Studies in Holy Angel University where topics like cultural properties – natural and cultural, museum and the community, and laws protecting the Filipino heritage will be discussed. This will be followed by an open forum in the afternoon.
On May 19, with the activities dubbed Museum in the Streets, there will be a guided tour of Angeles City Heritage District at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., Las Flores del Los Angeles – Santacruzan, the reenactment of the search for the cross of Jesus by Queen Helena, more popularly known as “Sabat Santacruzan,” followed by Flores de Mayo, the traditional offering of flowers to the Virgin Mary during the month of May, will be held along Sto. Rosario St.
And on May 20, there will be a Pampanga Tour (optional), where participants will be toured in the different heritage spots in Pampanga with the following schedule:
7:00 am. Historic Camalig Restaurant – Kapampangan Pizza Breakfast
9:00 a.m. Pampanga River Tour
10:45 a.m. San Luis Church
11:30 a.m. lunch at the home of Lilian Boromeo
1:00 p.m. San Guillermo Church (lahar-buried and was featured in the TV show May Bukas Pa)
2:00 p.m. St. James, the Great Church of Betis, Guagua
3:00 p.m. trip back to Angeles City, pasalubong at Susie’s/Delyn’s (personal account)
The fee for the Pampanga Tour is P1,250 which include the transportation from and back to Angeles City. While for the May 18 workshop/seminar, the participation fee is P500 which would cover the meals, conference kit and certificate of participation.
